Steven Keen and Christmas Advice!

Had to laugh the other night. On This Day Tonight, there he was, telling us how to achieve a stress free Christmas by shopping for bargains!

Seems his foray into Real Estate Advice has ended and he is now into the really important things in life, like shopping for Christmas Bargains.

Only problem was, he didnt add any more info than us homemakers have been doing for years - he must have thought that as he had uttered the words then suddenly he had discovered a brand new order of things!

Twit.

Or use the income from your investments to avoid the stress of trying to find bargains, just buying everything at regular prices. ;)

We're shockers with regards to Xmas.

We have almost given it a wide berth; except for our son.

We are not religious, so it has no spiritual or religious meaning, and there is a huge logistical problem getting together with the family, so we don't bother too much in that regard.

Have trained ourselves beautifully to not get swept up by all the marketing hype that goes with it.

We actually only keep it going for the sake of our 8 year old son. Do the tree, and the deco's etc, but it's very basic in our house.

The wife and I buy each other a fairly inexpensive pressy; usually around the $50 mark to make the pressy giving ceremony a bit exciting on the day for him.

This year the son is after an X-Box, so this is the pressy he will be getting, along with a few other little bits, so this year will be more expensive, but normally we max out on him for about $150 tops.

He doesn't know any different, so to spend $1k per kid like some parents do is something he has never experienced.

We'd rather save the money towards really great holidays and trips throughout the year, and buy things of higher value as we need them.
