Hot Water Service for Holiday Unit

A friend has a holiday unit on the Gold Coast. Their current electric hot water service needs to be replaced but they have been advised that they cannot install another electric hot water service as they are being phased out.

They don't think gas HWS is available in the area. They would like to install solar but don't think this can be done because in a unit complex (10 in complex). Has anyone installed solar HWS in a unit complex?

Thanks Propertunity,
I thought that it may have to be a heat pump but sometimes you don't know what can be done so best to ask.

We recently replaced our electric hot water system with a similar system (Brisbane).

I am not sure when the ban on new electric systems comes in, but it only applies if the property can be connected to the piped natural gas network.

As we do not have piped gas in our area then we were able to replace our system without any problems. We did look at alternatives but they were far too expensive for our needs.
