Expungement of easements

My PPOR has a 1.83m easement down one side in the favor of South East Water and the Glen Eira council. It has no assets in it and I have been told I can apply to have it expunged (removed).
Has anyone done this before, if so, is it an simple process and small expense?
Do you think it would increase the value of the property enough to warrant the effort?

HI there
why not write to both parties and see what their requirements are. They may actually specify both the cost and documents required.

I note that I did get a railway easement removed for a client at just the cost of their solicitor reviewing documents. Your titles office could also be contacted to find out the likely requirements and costs.

If the easement is removed - it can't later be used by any other party - there was a related post about a sewerage easement being used by Telstra
thanks

When we bought our block of land in 1992, it had an old disused Energex easement on it. We spoke to a most helpful bloke at Energex, who advised us we could have the easement removed for about $800, which we did :)
