    CGT Main Residence Exemption (6 years)

    You can claim deductions against your rental income regardless of the PPOR status. The PPOR status only affects whether you pay CGT. For CGT, you can live away from your PPOR for up to six years before the PPOR exemption "expires". Also, if you move back in at any time, then move out again...
