However the latest edition of API mag lists it in its top 100 suburbs/towns and suggests it has more going for it than mining.

I have always been cautious of buying into furnished apartments as imo if you dont have your own furniture you tend to be transient and it would be a smaller market and pool of potential renters to offer your apartment to.

Looking at renovating the back of our house and replacing the 20 something year old kitchen in our PPOR.

Looking at buying into a block in the next few days (fingers crossed:D )
which was probably built in the 60s. Although its not red brick it appears to be that era. The block has been recently strated. My solicitor pointed out that the block will need to get a complying certificate (fire rating)...
