Overseas Investor Looking to Buy in Mel $700k

Elaborate Y-Man? Is Croydon rinding on the coat tails of Ringwood?

Not necessarily, but he'd prefer Melbourne as he sees long term growth outperforming Brizzy

Overseas Investor Looking to Buy in Mel $700k

I have a friend living in Asia who has engaged me to scope out and IP. He is looking for a house around $600k - $700k. (not interested in 2 x IP's at $350k). He sent me to a property in Notting Hill at the upper end of that price range. It was 3BR in neat condtion on decent land but the rental...

    Melbourne - my suburb shortlist

Hi Onion33 I'll preface my response by saying I'm new to investing as well and have recently bought 2BR Apartments in Elwood ($450k)& Maidstone. My shortlist would be: Preston - Closest to city with plenty of amenities. Look at units over flats Parkdale/Mordy - Long term CG due to...

    Inner City Melbourne Suburbs

I recently purchased an 2BR flat in Elwood in the mid $400s with $400pw rent - teananted on first OFI. I grew up in the area and cannot go wrong with this suburb as it also has the beach proximity as a kicker and neighbours Brighton to the south. All others are winners as well though and have...

    Maidstone or West Footscray

Thanks again Kesse. I found a report from 2011 on the Maribyrnong Housing Strategy which has some useful info. http://www.maribyrnong.vic.gov.au/Files/FINALMaribyrnongHousingStrategy1101205.pdf

    Maidstone or West Footscray

M or WF I reckon WF has flown the coup in terms or bargain buys, hence my focus on Maidstone - from an IP perspective although I do think the new railway station and infrastructure in WF is a big attraction.

    Maidstone or West Footscray

Thanks Tone 1 - I think the key is it is just about the most affordable suburb within a 10km radius of CBD that has both yield and long term CG

    Maidstone or West Footscray

Thanks Kesse - they street view was my only concern as there seems to be an 'estate' of apartments. Does this affect CG ordinarily? Otherwise, everything else you've said confirms my thoughts on the area.

    Maidstone or West Footscray

I'm new to the forum and have been looking for a 2BR Unit in West Footscray for $320 - $350k but there's not much stock on the market. I've just bought an IP in Elwood with decent yield (for that area anyway) but need yield closer to 5.0% for next venture. I saw a property below in Maidstone...

    Is it time for Frankston?

Are there any more polarising suburbs than this one! I'm looking for a house in FT for around $300-$350k and chasing a bit of yield. However, my strategy is buy and hold as I'm time poor re: renos. Does anyone have an opinion on the quadrant surrounded by Skye Rd, Cranbourne, Penin Link and FT...
