What happens when Boom goes to Bust..

What's wrong with negative equity? Obviously you can't use negative equity to fund further purchases but are there any other drawbacks? E.g. do the banks start ordering valuations if they see prices crash and start asking you to tip in some cash?

    Redcliffe/Scarborough or North Lakes?

I've been keeping an eye on houses in Redcliffe around $400k for a few months now and I wouldn't say you've missed the boat (assuming there is one to be caught). When I was doing some initial research late last the year 1 year the median house price growth was 5% and the year before that 8%...

    New computer set up

An all-in-one PC might be an option. They'll do what you want and will save some desk space. Here are some options. We have a couple at work and they can cover browsing and checking emails that's for sure.

    Federal Leadership challenge called

This is a good point if Turnbull becomes PM. He may be better liked by the public but I think there is a chance he will be torn between his left leanings and keeping the "dries" in the LNP happy. He might end up pleasing no one.

    Purchase in Ingham QLD

Yeah, I don't know if I'd say "plenty" of people commute daily to Townsville for work (or Uni). I don't live there so I could be wrong. Yabulu nickel refinery workers used to commute (and I assume still do) but Yabulu is a little north of Townsville so the trip is a little shorter. In any case...

    Purchase in Ingham QLD

Hi CARCNS, You're from Cairns so I guess I don't need to tell you that Ingham is a pretty sleepy town. From my casual browsing or re.com.au it seems property stays on the market for quite some time waiting for a buyer. A lot of the youth leave town looking for employment and never return...

    Mindfulness Meditation .. For kids

This was an intersting book . He talks a lot about how the mind works (maybe too much for some readers) and not so much about techniques but it did open my mind to meditation which I always rolled my eyes at up till that point.

    France terrorist atrocity.

Yeah, the press never goes wild when there are non-muslim-terrorist massacares. Christianity comes in for criticism on SS, whatever that means as SS isn't a big sample of our society. In the wider society fingers are pointed at Chrisianity regularly (and rightly so)...

    Terrorist attack

There's one example of scaremongering. There are more which have not taken that approach.

    Terrorist attack

I have only been following this via a few web sites (smh etc.) so maybe I missed something but I haven't seen anyone get that dramatic. The reports I have read clearly state that no one knows if this is a terrorist attack on not. Sure, the reporting should be responsible and like I said above...

    Terrorist attack

Yeah, and the Lee Rigby murderers were just "two idiots with knives". If you can't see this is a big news story you are being willfully ignorant.

What have you achieved this year!!

This is a good thread. Some industrious people on this forum. Got keys to IP 1 in January (which is in a different city to me). Managed full renovation of IP 1 which is now rented out. Decided on markets to source IP 2 from (in a different state this one) and actively searching. Completed...

    Could it be a trust?

Hi, I have an RP Data report which lists the owner of the property as XXX Pty Ltd. Could this be a trust? The agent was telling me the vendors are selling because they are retiring and I wasn't expecting a Pty Ltd as the owner. Thanks
