Is this one of those reasons you don't discharge your mortgage once your place is payed off? How awful. Only way it could have been worse is if they were overseas on extended hols and it was their PPOR. Cheers, nat
I'm assuming the sale was done with the help of an agent. If so, did the agent ask to see id before getting the contract for sale documents filled in???
In NSW ID or certified copy of the ID would need to be provided to the oSR when getting the stamping done. Transfer has to be witnessed. Discharge of mortgage doesn't.
