I thought granny flat/bungalo were illegal in Mel?

I notice some advertised on realestate.com.au... I thought Mel was very strict and granny flat/bungalo is only for dependents?

Are these illegal?

if they're leased separately to non dependents, then maybe.

Are these rental adverts or sale adverts you're seeing? I've seen plenty listed in for sale adverts with the main property.

You will find them advertised in nsw too

It would be misleading if they put complying gramny flats

But if it just says granny flats it's upto you to check it's complying

I just found this link where it states the following . nIs this true?

Granny flats in Australia are taking a raise within Victoria as, Victorians will no longer need to get a planning permit to build a secondary dwelling in their backyard under a Labor government. This new legislation has lead to more people then ever before installing granny flats on there properties to take benefit of the lack of house and increase rental value.
